Questions people ask us before they file
Find clear, transparent answers about our tax preparation, business formation, virtual filings, and mentorship programs.
About your tax return
We prepare individual returns (Form 1040), self-employed & 1099 Schedule C returns, business returns for LLCs, Corporations, and Partnerships, as well as amended returns and tax extension requests.
Yes. We review previous returns for errors or missing credits and file tax amendments (Form 1040-X or business amendments) to correct what we find.
A professional helps make sure your return is accurate, checks the deductions and credits you qualify for, reduces the risk of errors, and keeps you compliant with current tax law. We also walk you through your return so you can make informed financial decisions.
It depends on your particular situation — income, filing status, dependents and the work you do all change the answer. We review your documents and tell you which credits and deductions you qualify for under current IRS rules.
What documents do I need?
You will typically need a valid photo ID, Social Security cards or ITINs, W-2s, 1099s, business income and expense records, mortgage interest statements if applicable, and any documents related to deductions or credits. Our team will help make sure you have everything needed for an accurate filing.
A valid government-issued photo ID — driver’s license, state ID or passport — along with your Social Security card or ITIN documentation. If you are claiming dependents, bring their Social Security cards or ITIN documents as well.
We may ask for a utility bill, lease agreement, mortgage statement, bank statement or other official correspondence showing your current address. Depending on your filing status, additional documentation may be needed.
You may be asked for birth certificates, adoption records, school records, medical records or other official documents that establish your relationship with the dependent and confirm IRS eligibility.
Keep copies of your tax returns, W-2s, 1099s, receipts, bank statements, business expense records and other supporting documents for at least three years. Organized records make each filing season easier and give you documentation if the IRS ever asks for more information.
Deadlines, penalties and paying late
The IRS deadline is generally in mid-April, though it can shift depending on the calendar or IRS announcements. If you need more time, we can file an extension for you and walk you through your options.
Do not panic, and do not skip filing. Filing on time is what keeps additional penalties from adding up, even if you cannot pay the full balance. We can help you look at IRS payment plans and other resolution options that fit your situation.
The IRS may assess penalties and interest when you file or pay after the deadline. Filing on time matters even if you cannot pay in full — we can help you explore payment plans, extensions and other IRS options to keep additional penalties down.
Your refund
If you e-file and choose direct deposit, the IRS issues most refunds within 21 days. Processing can take longer if your return is selected for review, needs additional verification, or claims certain credits.
Filing from another state, and in Spanish
Yes! While our office is located in Houston, Texas, we provide fully remote and virtual tax preparation services across all 50 U.S. states.
Absolutely. G&H Financial Solution is 100% bilingual. All consultations, documentation reviews, and communications are conducted seamlessly in English or Spanish according to your preference.
Yes. We e-file both personal and business returns, and the whole process can be completed virtually from any state — we share documents securely, review everything with you, and keep you updated through to filing.
No problem. We prepare multi-state returns and report your income correctly in each state, so you meet every state filing requirement and apply the credits each state gives for tax paid elsewhere.
If you own a business
Yes. We guide entrepreneurs through state business registration (LLC or Corporation) and prepare federal EIN applications with the IRS.
We provide monthly transaction categorization, bank reconciliations, financial statements, payroll processing, quarterly payroll filings, and annual W-2/1099 distribution.
If you are a tax preparer
The program covers practical tax software training, PTIN/EFIN guidance, client management strategies, and operational support. Which tier fits you (Tier 1 or Tier 2) depends on your experience level.
No. Government registration approvals (IRS PTIN and EFIN) are strictly determined by federal tax authorities. We provide step-by-step guidance, but approval cannot be guaranteed by any third party.
